Before filming had begun, as a group we aimed to seek fitting places to film various scenes from our music video. For the location to be good for use, we had to look our for:

  • Safety concerns

  • Permission to film

  • Whether it is suitable for the scene in question

  • Available electrical outlets for lights or camera charging

  • Which pre-existing aspects of the set that may influence mise-en-scene choices

  • Natural and artificial light available

  • Space to accommodate camera movement/ character movement

This is the area that we decided to film in. We chose this area because we felt that it would be easy to incorporate suspense into the film using this area and its surroundings.  There will be no issues surrounding safety issues whilst filming in the chosen area, however we will have to be sure not to catch any pedestrians in the back of shot, and if we do we would need to ask permission to use them in the shot.

The main idea behind the woodland and open field area chosen was to create a sense of mystery, as each character comes in from a different direction.

The good thing about the woods is the winding path that made it easy to film a high energy chase scene.

We barely used any lighting during film because the trees filtered the sun nicely in the woodlands and it wasn't necessary to use a light whilst filming in the field. This was helpful as we often got a nice filter (unintentionally) on the characters faces whilst filming, which really help give the audience emotional identification with the the characters.

Many props such as this gate were already in place, the most significant being the bike (pictured below) that we found on site.

The path pictured above (just visible below seamus) lead us from the woodlands (below and left) into the almost haunting forest path (direct below).
