What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
In the planning of our film and creating our website we used different online tools to create an effect of our film analysis and to make our website user friendly. We edited the GUI of our website by creating links to each different part, for example, to each of our film analysis or to our blog. By doing this, we made each part of our website easier to access. Our homepage to our website tells the viewer what the website is about and what they can see, we also have videos on there to show the viewer which films we analysed. On the review pages we have screen graps of each film along with an in depth analysis of the film, including its sub genre and its use of each theory. Our four analyses are on the top bar of our website, after these we have a link to ‘more’ in this link there is our pitch, blog, focus group, recce report and costume page. We have made each part of our website easy to access with the use of links; this enables the viewer to select each part with ease. Also, we used our website and social networking sites such as YouTube to upload our focus group and to show the trailers of each film we analysed.
Throughout the construction of our final product we used different programs such as Imovie, final cut, garage band and live type. We began by using Imovie to import our files from the camera, by using this we were able to see what clips we wanted to use in the product. In the process of using Imovie, we learnt the process involved in the selection process of clips and how certain clips contradicted or did not fit with the others. By using Imovie, we learnt how some of our clips that followed our story line didn’t seem to fit with the others and so we had to choose which ones would create a good, tense film. Also, when using Imovie, we could look at each shot and decide if we needed to edit the diegetic sound. However, we were unable to edit these while in Imovie and therefore had to do so when we moved it into final cut.
When using final cut, we placed an order for our film and edited some of the shots and found ways in which some of the diegetic sound was not fitting and therefore either made the sound more quiet or took it out completely in order to replace it with a score. With final cut we found that placing certain clips in other places made our storyline fit better rather than some of the shots we had on our story boards, in this way, we found some of our story boards weren’t in the same order as our film. Also, when we were arranging our film, we cut certain shots down to increase tension in the film and to increase the editing pace. When we edited our film, we effects from final cut to increase the tension with certain characters, for example, using the earthquake effect when our antagonist was first seen in order to increase tension and show that this was the antagonist.
